There is no audio visualizer effect in iMovie, and iMovie does not support 3rd party plug-ins. If you Google 'audio visualizer Mac' you might be able to find some way of doing it. I have never done audio visualization myself, but I think that you first share out your movie and then import it into a visualization program. There are apps on the internet that claim to be Mac compatible. Just doing a quick Google search I found this one:

The Queue

Sometimes it’s useful to be able to pull the audio from a video file. The media converter supports works with over 100 different file formats including video formats, converting them to mp3, wav, m4a, flac, ogg, wma, and m4r (for iPhone ringtones).
